It shows high resistance to environmental stress, including ultraviolet radiation, desiccation and the presence of oxidants such as hydrogen peroxide, pumilus contains a circular chromosome comprising about 4000 genes and 3600-3900 genes ranging in length from 3.7 to 3.8 Mbp 41% of DNA base pairs in B. pumilus are GC . The cellular structure of B. pumilus is similar to that of other Bacillus species, such as B. subtilis, B. megaterium, and B. cereus.
